Using users entered in Basic Authentication

Recommended Posts

Guest daystar

Noob question, sorry but we've spent several hours on forums manuals etc.

We have created a profile, selected basic authentication and entered 5 user names and passwords.

Then recorded a test.

But we can't figure out how to get the user names and passwords for Basic Auth. to replace those we enter into a login page.

Does the login page need to be the first page the test goes to?

Does the login page have to have fields labeled as User and Password for this to work?

Is it automatic and we aren't seeing it? We've reviewed the log files for a 20 user test and they all just use the credentials we entered when we recorded the test.

TIA.

If you enter a username and pasword into a login page, it means you don't use Basic Authentication. In this case you should change the username and password parameters into a login submit request to make them dynamic.

Great. Thank you for the reply. That is what we ended up doing, I guess we didn't understand the basic authentication.

We also got some confusion in basic authentication. Usually we use AD to authenticate. However it seems WAPT cannot detect it so we need to enter username/password into "basic authentication" option

If Active Directory is used usually you should enter username and password into "Integrated Windows authentication".

Thanks!

Also one more question, we found that the password entered is not masked (i.e. display ****** instead of the plain text). Maybe it can be enhanced in next WAPT version.
